Getting informed without sinking
The speed of technological evolution leads us to an accelerated consumption of information with little room for debate and interpretation of facts. In this sense, the Observatory does not aim to further overload the "infosphere", but to provide navigation through events without anxiety.
Therefore, we organize this section as follows:
- A monthly bulletin with a summary of the most important information, analyzing current trends, particularly with regard to technologies, artificial intelligence and education;
- The publication of opinions from teachers and education agents on relevant topics;
- Recommendation of readings, websites, podcasts or other resources, if you want to delve deeper.
Reading suggestion
Por Paula Menezes, 13/03/2024
Our suggestion for the week is to read a short and impactful book by Byung-Chul Han, a South Korean philosopher who became known for his book "The Burnout Society". The author has several books translated into Portuguese, as well as several interviews available. We suggest reading this book about non-things because, despite its philosophical content, it has a simple and critical narrative of technological phenomena, and is only 171 pages long. Its main thesis is that the "infosphere" takes the place of things, that is, we are living in a world of information rather than of things, objects or more stable relationships. Despite some positive aspects, this observation would lead us to a "post-factual" regime, losing connection with reality and leveling the distinction between true and false. This work is essential for thinking about the era of misinformation and the new dynamics of communication and attention in our society.

The text highlights the need to challenge the status quo and offer alternatives that promote a more conscious and collaborative approach in the digital age, exemplified by the Needle platform.
